SalarySands School is a small independent secondary day school located in the town of Ashburton in the southern edge of the Dartmoor National Park in Devon. We offer genuinely child-centred teaching in small classes within a democratic ethos that fosters trust, mutual respect and self-directed learning.
We are seeking a passionate, creative and flexible Humanities teacher to join Sands School from September 2024. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Humanities department working alongside experienced and talented teachers. You will co-deliver our Key Stage 3 mixed Humanities curriculum and lead at least one GCSE course for our Key Stage 4 students in your specialist subject(s). You will have a large degree of freedom to shape the courses to the needs and interests of the group, and will be experienced at delivering high quality engaging lessons.
The successful candidate will:
• Be educated to degree level in a Humanities subject;
• Be a confident, flexible teacher able to cover a broad range of humanities subjects at KS3 level;
• Be well organised, have excellent communication and teamwork skills and a creative approach to teaching and curriculum planning;
• Have a passion for their subject and for working with young people;
• Be a strong advocate of student voice.
As well as being a responsible adult in the school, you will be a part of the school community and will be expected to engage with and support all our students, not just those taking your subjects, and to participate in the democratic running of the school through the weekly school meetings.
