HV Cable Design Engineer

We are working with a growing business who now require aHV Cable Design Engineer to join the team. You will work both independently and as part of the  team to deliver Cable Design projects to targeted levels of quality, timeliness, and profitability.

You will undertake cable system design, studies, and calculations to relevant BSEN/IEC/National Grid/DNO/ ENA standards and practices.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

• Provide input into cable routing feasibility and detailed design studies working with other members of the Team, taking local planning, traffic management and client requirements into account, while developing the most economical cable system design.
• Prepare cable system design calculation including cable sizing assessments, earthing and interface studies.
• Engage with clients to understand project requirements and ensure that the technical scope of projects is met.
• Producing design concepts, specifications, and other technical documents, including relaying design information to internal drafting resource.
• Attending sites for inspection and design purposes.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate HV Cable Designs seamlessly into larger projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree – Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification(s) and/or relevant experience in a related field.
• Competent in using CYMCAP or similar software
• Knowledge of AutoCAD/MicroStation (Desirable)
• Demonstrable technical skills in Transmission voltage level underground cable systems development, design and specification or demonstrable transferable skills and experience.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate diligence and to prioritise workload.
