HVAC Refrigeration Engineer
Salary: Up to £40,000
Location: Field based Midlands
Metalis are currently seeking a competent refrigeration and electrical services engineer to support our manufacturing customer; possessing the skills, experience and qualifications for the service and maintenance of refrigeration, chilling, heating, ventilation, air conditioning plant, associated services and electrical equipment. Duties will include carrying out service and maintenance to a variety of installations, in accordance with all company policies and procedures ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, statutory acts and regulations.

Qualification required
- City and Guilds 2079 F Gas Class 1 & 2 certification
- CITB Safe Handling of Refrigerants J11-12
- Apprenticeship served in an industrial engineering or maintenance environment.
- Industrial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Mechanical Fitting or Engineering BTEC - ONC / HNC or equivalent (preferable however experience will be considered).
- Electrical Installation: City & Guilds 2394 & 2395, 2330/2351/2355 or 236 Parts A&B or 2360 Parts 1&2 or 2365 Level 2&3 or 2356 NVQ 3 within a recognised Apprenticeship.
- City & Guilds 6187 categories 1-6 (Unit 230/530) and 7189 categories 2-3 (Unit 209/509).
- Certificate for the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: 2008 (2382 - 12, 15 or 20); for 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Electrical Inspection and Testing competence: C&G 2391-10 or C&G 2394/2395.
- Electrical Technical competence: BTEC - ONC/HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
- H&S qualifications: IOSH / NEBOSH Working (or Supervising) Safely or Contractor Safety Certification Scheme (CSCS Card), ECITB Safety Passport or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Respond to breakdown and emergency situations, diagnose, and rectify faults and carry out effective hands-on maintenance and repairs.
- Be part of the team providing out of hours cover through call out, be available for call outs and attend as necessary when called out.
- Carry out fault root-cause analysis and problem-solving techniques to maximize the efficiency and safety of the site, plant, and equipment.
- Carry out criticality analysis of the site services plant and equipment to identify the highest equipment risk areas for focus and review that analysis on a regular basis.
- Advise on plant and equipment improvements which contribute toward site improvements, health, and safety and/or technical corrective actions.
- Carry out activity and task-based Risk Assessments, produce Method Statements and implement Safe Systems of Work ensuring compliance with all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental regulations, and codes of practice.
- Undertake all tasks in a professional manner, demonstrating technical knowledge and experience.
- Support projects and maintenance activities, assist in planning and work with Contractors to support successful delivery of their works.
- When required effectively coordinate and lead mechanical and electrical maintenance activities on the plant and equipment, in a manner that upholds the quality of the operation, focusing on safety, productivity, cost effectiveness and the preservation and improvement of the site machinery and property.
- Have a working knowledge of BMS systems and be able to interface with the system to perform changes.
- Respond to and raise work requests and input service data into the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Carry out F-Gas compliance checks and keep F-Gas compliance records up to date.
- Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence i.e., holidays, sickness, paternity leave, etc.
- Support, train and guide apprentices in mechanical & electrical building services maintenance and good practice.
