You'll be a key element of the Green Hydrogen team to support on Planning and Consenting for the successful delivery of our project portfolio and to support a net carbon zero future across Scottish Power. This is a new and exciting opportunity giving the opportunity to shape and influence the role.  You will be leading on environmental planning and Consenting for our Green Hydrogen development pipeline. Working with our Real Estate Team to secure, maintain, and manage robust land and property rights for the construction and operation of green hydrogen facilities. Supporting project delivery teams with expert advice.

What you'll be doing

Responsible for securing all necessary planning consents for Green Hydrogen projects you will create a process to form part of the project development cycle and provide expert guidance and recommendation to support senior management decision making on environmental consenting approach and strategy. As the first point of contact with government planning departments, public offices, and legal representatives you will provide clarity of the company's proposals for green hydrogen projects. You'll work closely with the Green Hydrogen Development Director, Senior Management Team, internal stakeholders and our clients to help meet their expectations and secure consents.

Responsible for the management, co-ordination and delivery of planning consents to enable multi-million-pound Green Hydrogen projects to be delivered. Influencing the various engineering and project activities to recognise the implications of obtaining landowner and planning consents and appropriate behaviours whilst on land or discharging planning conditions.

Providing professional leadership, support, and direction to the Green Hydrogen team to ensure best in class approach and support necessary to secure planning consents across a number of local and national regimes, mitigating where possible all risks associated with escalated consents and appeals processes.

What you'll bring

You'll be degree educated or have equivalent experience along with a relevant qualification or demonstrable experience acquiring consents for projects in the utilities or chemical sectors.   Bringing expert knowledge of Planning and Consenting process's, relevant Property Law, Planning Acts and Codes and Practices.

Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management as well as proven experience planning and managing contracts within complex projects.  You'll bring well-honed commercial and negotiation skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills
