Hygiene Operative

Job Purpose
The role of the Hygiene Operative is to ensure the environment is safe and clean to prevent a negative impact on quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement all Health and Safety policies and procedures ensuring compliance with legislation and aligned to best practice.
- Clean all pre-established mill floors, walls and machinery on a rotational basis or as required. This will require working in confined spaces and working at height. Enable KPI's for hygiene to be met to prevent a negative impact on quality standards.
- Clean all spillages and trailers in the mill yard as and when required. Ensure the environment is safe and clean, mitigating risks to health and safety.
- Proactively respond to any incidents or environmental concerns which could negatively impact health and safety and quality standards. Promptly notify the Mill Management team of any concerns which are considered to merit immediate attention.
- Responsibility to ensure that feed is made and handled in a way that all Food safety standards and requirements are adhered to, maintaining standards of good practice to minimise any food safety risk to both the birds consuming the feed and the end consumer.
- Completion of daily paperwork, proactively seeking solutions where abnormalities occur to prevent a negative impact on production and quality standards.
- Liaise with other operational areas to ensure the efficient flow of information so all internal and external customer requirements are met.
- Drive continuous improvement, proactively reviewing current methodology and opportunities to improve the sites efficiency, safety, quality and performance.
- Manage and maintain all sites waste to the correct environment agency standards.
- Undertake any reasonable task as required and as directed by the mill management team.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Standard Grade level 3 or equivalent National Grade in Maths and English.
- Strong experience within a similar role.
- Experience of working with strict procedures and compliance requirements.
- Forklift certification advantageous.
- Working in confined spaces certification advantageous. Full training will be provided.
