About our client:
Are you an experienced cable jointer looking to advance your career? Our client is seeking skilled professionals to join their IDNO jointing team. You’ll perform a variety of cable jointing activities, often in challenging weather conditions. We prioritise safety and are looking for individuals with a strong understanding of cable jointing practices. DNO-trained jointers, especially those with UKPN experience, are highly desirable. However, we are also willing to train qualified cable jointers without DNO experience.
Responsibilities:
Perform live LV jointing and terminations of LV and/or HV electrical cables for both underground and overhead distribution systems and assets.
Install, repair, and maintain electrical distribution equipment, including switchgear, transformers, and other electrical assets.
Conduct inspections and tests on electrical equipment and cables to identify and resolve faults or ensure safe connection to the distribution network.
Collaborate with a team of skilled operatives and engineers to ensure efficient and safe operation of the distribution network.
Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies during work execution.
Requirements:
Proven experience as an Electrical Distribution Jointer, with a minimum of 2 years in the field.
Physical fitness and the ability to work in outdoor and sometimes challenging environments.
Proficient in the jointing and termination of LV and/or HV cables for both underground and overhead systems.
Sound knowledge of electrical distribution systems, equipment, and components.
Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Strong commitment to and understanding of safety practices in the workplace.
Clean UK fully comprehensive driving licence.
Regular drug and alcohol tests will be mandatory, with a test required at company induction.
Hold, or have previously held, a UKPN authorization for cable jointing at a particular voltage (desirable).
City and Guilds 2332 or similar (desirable).
LV linking and fusing (desirable).
Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical faults (desirable).
