Job description:

Within Immigration Enforcement, our Criminal & Financial Investigation (CFI) teams play a vital role nationally in tackling immigration crime, as part of a multi-layered UK law enforcement approach. Working closely with partners in the National Crime Agency, territorial policing and many other agencies and departments, our CFI Teams are at the forefront in tackling serious and organised immigration crime.

The Private Office within CFI provides corporate and business support to the Director of CFI and Senior Managers. This is a unique opportunity for you to play a key role in the smooth running of a high-profile and fast-moving area of the business.

Supporting the Private Office Manager and SEO OCG Disruptions and Reporting Lead, you will be required to manage a wide range of tasks that will often be urgent, complex, and sensitive. You must therefore be able to build a sound, high level knowledge of the business as well as be adaptable, calm under pressure, be able to handle a range of issues with diplomacy and discretion. This role would suit a calm, organised and discreet individual who would be confident in working independently, and oversee the flow of requests directed to the Private Office.

This post provides an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to develop within a support role, and would suit someone who is interested in gaining a wider understanding of CFI, and Immigration Enforcement.

Please note there is no shift working requirement, and therefore no AHW/AHA allowance available for this role.

Please also note that due to the nature of the work and the geographical area, some travel to ad hoc meetings by official vehicle will be inevitable and applicants must have a full valid UK manual driving licence.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Private Office Manager and SEO OCG Disruptions and Reporting Lead, with the collation and drafting of high-quality briefings, including FOIs, PQs and Ministerial Commissions.
  • Working alongside the Disruption and Data SEO to provide analytical support and cover, focusing on ensuring that all management information is accurately recorded on CLUE and analysed. Building a secure knowledge of CLUE and reporting functions within it, to extract data required to respond to commissions requested by the CFI Private Office Manager.
  • Supporting SEO OCG Disruptions and Reporting Lead with all matters relating to the collation of CFI OCG disruption claims, ensuring that data is presented during monthly IE Disruption Panels.
  • Providing support and action ad hoc requests that support the Director, SLT and the overall CFI command.

Essential Criteria:

You must be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent written communication skills, particular the ability to draft written work.
  • The ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a team.
  • The ability to use own initiative and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to research and pay close attention to detail.
  • The ability to work at pace and under pressure, be proactive and prioritise key activities.
  • The ability to work confidently with data and systems having good IT skills (Word / Excel / PowerPoint).

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in a criminal investigation arena with a strong operational background, a good working knowledge of Borders and Migration systems and the criminal justice/law enforcement processes.

The sift will be held on the lead behaviour Managing a Quality Service and the statement of suitability (personal statement).

The statement of suitability will be scored first for all candidates. Those candidates who achieve the minimum pass score for the statement of suitability, will progress to a further sift where the lead behaviour Managing a Quality Service will be scored. These candidates will therefore receive a sift score for both elements. Candidates who fail to meet the minimum pass score for the statement of suitability will not have their lead behaviour Managing a Quality Service scored and will therefore only receive a sift score for the statement of suitability.

Part time working

The minimum requirement for this role would be 30 hours per week.

Flexible working
