Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and achieve your full potential working as part of a team doing important work.

You’ll join Immigration Enforcement (IE). It’s an operational arm of the Home Office, responsible for reducing the size of the illegal population and the harm it causes. It also works to disrupt the organised criminal groups that exploit the vulnerable for their personal gain.

About the role

This is a fast-paced and rewarding role. On a day-to-day basis you’ll respond to Clandestine and Common Travel Area threats at ports within the region, search property and persons to preserve and record evidence, gather intelligence, complete risk assessments and prepare operational orders. You will be required to arrest and detain immigration offenders and also to safeguard vulnerable people, but full training for this and all elements of the role will be given and you will always be working as part of a team.

What you’ll need

No experience is necessary for this role, as we’ll give you all the training you need to succeed. You will need to be able to remain calm in emotionally charged situations and also be naturally inquisitive. You’ll also need:

  • To be an excellent communicator with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail and resilience in the face of challenges.
  • To be proactive, adaptable, and motivated, taking responsibility for your own work.
  • A full, UK manual driving licence.

This role can be physically demanding, and if successful you will be required to complete and pass specialist training, including Level 3 Personal Safety Training (PST), where you will learn to protect yourself and others.

Benefits

We offer a range of benefits including:

  • Learning and development tailored to your role.
  • An environment with flexible working options.
  • A culture encouraging inclusion and diversity.
  • A Civil Service pension with an average employer contribution of 27%.

How to apply

We recommend you read the full job description on the Civil Service Jobs website before you apply. It will help you to understand what we require from candidates and to learn about what the recruitment process looks like. Successful applicants will need to be vetted through enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and undertake Personal Safety Training (PST).
