Job description

Morson Technical Services are currently seeking an IMOS Aircraft Out of Scope Task Co-ordinator based at RNAS Culdrose. This is a permanent position.
JOB PURPOSE
The IMOS Out of Scope co-ordinator is directly accountable to the IMOS MDMF Input Manager for production schedule delivery and performance within the Merlin Depth Maintenance Facility (MDMF), using a team of sub-contractor personnel. Drawing upon technical experience in aircraft maintenance, operations and logistics support, the role is to ensure that LH delivers the most efficient and effective OOS task achievable within MDMF, along with enhancing MDMF deliverables, satisfying Customer and business expectations, whilst also ensuring that airworthiness assurance and continuous improvement requirements are consistently met.
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND TASKS

  • Act as the Primary Leonardo Helicopters (LH) Customer interface within MDMF for Merlin aircraft in the OOS and related embodiment programmes conducted at RNAS Culdrose
  • As above for both associated and bespoke OOS maintenance tasks undertaken by the enhanced element of the IMOS Depth CWP.
  • Coordinate the OOS Task aircraft within the MDMF, enabling LH to achieve all Key Performance Indicators related to these contractual commitments.
  • Directly support the MDMF Management in the de-confliction between OOS tasking and MDMF production activities to maximise resource availability for programme delivery tasks.
  • Liaison with LH Managers to resolve support issues, including conflicting priorities that may otherwise prejudice both the output and performance of the OOS Task CWPs.
  • Directly support MDMF LH management in the execution of general service delivery, workforce control and reporting tasks.
  • The identification and correct use of all tooling, ASSE, spares, equipment and infrastructure needed to achieve the schedule output required.
  • Provide timely advice to the IMOS Logistics Manager and LH Programme Managers (assigned to OOS tasking) concerning potential supply deficiencies requiring external resolution at a more senior management level.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all associated stakeholders, tempering Customer expectations where necessary through honest, open and transparent dialogue.
  • Communicate effectively with all CWP employees on both a formal and informal basis to ensure common business goals are understood and achieved.
  • Providing performance feedback to LH management.
  • Ensure that all OOS Task CWP operations are carried out safely in accordance with current health, safety, environmental and welfare legislation.
  • To ensure that CWP personnel meet the requirements of both the Authority and LH in safeguarding classified, commercial or sensitive information and equipment.
  • Utilise existing knowledge to enhance and improve the service delivery by conducting continuous improvement evaluation of the embodiment process.
  • Encourage all personnel involved in production embodiment and scheduled maintenance activities to adopt a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Review and co-ordinate asset serviceability within MDMF prior to despatch.
  • Undertake any other related and relevant duties as directed by LH Management.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Have a good working knowledge of the Merlin aircraft.
  • Have experience in air engineering management including recent exposure to the defence industry with specific experience in a support environment including the Merlin air and/or mission systems.
  • Comprehensive and detailed knowledge and experience of helicopter maintenance operations, supply chain and technical support processes, including practical experience of Forward and/or Depth operational support.
  • Have the relevant management skills and operational experience to manage an independent aircraft maintenance team operating in a military environment.
  • Understanding the engineering criteria and processes underpinning military helicopter airworthiness and safe operation.
  • Ability to manage sub-contract companies to achieve a specific output or goal.
  • Self-motivated, able to take initiatives and work within teams.
  • Good business and commercial awareness, with sound understanding of Integrated Operational Support requirements, performance criteria and organisation.
  • Be an excellent communicator with the ability to interface at all levels on a daily basis with both the Authority and Industry, including the confidence to lead joint Industry/Customer/ Supplier meetings and teams.
  • Be able to communicate confidently with senior military officers, civil servants, VIP s and company staff at all levels, including operating and negotiating at a level equivalent to SO3 Service rank (Lt).
  • Be Suitably Qualified and Experienced (SQEP) to hold technical authorisations up to and including MAM-P Level G as delegated, if required, by the MBSM.
