Major Recruitment are searching for an Import Customs and Shipping Clerkfor our client based in Sunderland. This vacancy is full-time and permanent for the right candidate.
Duties include:
- Serve as the main contact for hauliers and agents regarding customs clearance
- Collect data from various suppliers for Import Customs clearance
- Examine customs invoices to ensure they are accurate
- Prepare export shipping documentation, including customs invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin
- Coordinate with suppliers to amend documentation
- Categorize items according to the rules of interpretation
- Determine the appropriate customs valuation using the methods of valuation
- Apply preferences to Import Customs entries when necessary
- Organize shipments to and from third-party contractors
- Create dangerous goods notes and book export shipments using online portals
- Maintain master data and compile data for monthly metrics
Hours of work and pay rate:
- Monday to Friday, with a half day Friday
- Day shift
- £25,000 to £28,000 depending on experience
Successful candidates must have:
- Excellent Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience of CDS/CHIEF for import purposes
- Handling Import Customs processing
- Understanding of classification rules of interpretation
