Import Operator

We are looking for an Import Operator for our client based in Leeds. This role involves managing the full journey for the transportation of goods from the Far & Middle East to the UK via Sea.
This role requires someone with previous experience in imports, ideally from a logistics business. This is a fast paced role so we are looking for someone who is organised, proactive and great at building relationships.

Main duties to include;

• Manage a shipments for a wide range of customers, building relationships and ensuring repeat business
• Booking a pricing shipments from the Far and Middle East to the UK
• Build relationships with carriers and obtain the best prices
• Ensure all shipments have the correct documentation and customs entries
• Keep customers informed of any changes to delivery dates or issues
• Monitor shipments to ensure safe arrival
• Deliver exceptional customer service to ensure repeat business

We are looking for:

• Experience in an imports role, ideally for a broker or freight forwarder
• Experience in sea freight
• A problem solver, someone who keeps calm under pressure and finds solutions
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong relationship building and customer service skills
