Due to company growth, our client based in Altrincham, Manchester are looking for an experienced Freight Forwarding Import/Export Ocean Operations Supervisor with some experience of Air to join their team on a permanent basis. This role would suit someone who is looking for their next step up in their career. You will need to have previous team leader / supervisory experience along with excellent communication skills, a positive approach and strong work ethic.
Duties for the Operations Supervisor will involve: -
- Being involved in the day-to-day operational activities whilst supervising and supporting daily activities of 5 multi-modal operations staff, working in conjunction with the warehouse and 3PL contract logistics team.
- Extensive client liaison and being first point of contact for any problems and dealing with non-standard issues as and when they arise and ensuring service levels are maintained.
- Addressing failures and analysing root causes.
- Analysing trends on conformance failures to implement changes required.
- Training new staff in company procedures
- Empowering staff and encouraging progression.
- Identifying and implementing new procedures.
- Identifying potential sales opportunities and passing them to the correct departments.
- Supporting the Branch Manager.
Essential requirements for the Operations Supervisor role:
- Supervisory experience across Import/Export Ocean and Air
- Clear communications skills and the ability lead, encourage, coach and influence others.
- Dedicated, driven and actively works to continuously improve themselves.
- Understands that different situations and levels may call for different skills and approaches
- Ability to build relationships with team members, celebrating and rewarding successes.
- Confident in making innovative changes to achieve business success.
- Knowledge and experience of AEO

The working hours for this role are 9.00 – 5.30pm Monday to Friday
