Job Description
Qualified tax specialist (ACCA, ACA, CTA) with UK VAT expertise coupled with experience of working on the indirect tax concerns of a large organisation with international interests
This listed technology business is recruiting for a VAT Analyst to join their Finance team based in Marlow. This is an indirect tax focused role reporting into the Group Tax Manager. Whilst predominantly UK based, the business has expanded its network of multinational branches and is growing its physical presence in core locations. With an established and straightforward UK VAT set up, a growing proportion of this role will be focussed on our growing multinational operations and the VAT/sales tax compliance of those operations.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Take ownership over preparation and submission of VAT returns in the UK, Ireland and Iceland
- Review and improve processes around the VAT return, Intrastat and EC Sales list reporting
- Provide ad-hoc VAT support to our sales force team on specific deals, particularly relating to non-UK sales and purchases
- Continue to develop and improve our VAT configuration of the new finance system
- Train operational teams in indirect tax matters, aiding 'right first time' processing of VAT
- Support and improve responses to indirect tax evasion risk across the organisation
- Build relationships with external UK and Multinational tax advisory teams
- Engage with external advisors on more complex indirect tax matters, as required
You will ideally be a qualified tax specialist (ACCA, ACA, CTA) with UK VAT expertise coupled with experience of working on the indirect tax concerns of a large organisation with international interests, whether that experience has been gained in industry or within a leading UK professional services firm. You will be a confident individual with good levels of judgement and pragmatism, comfortable working within a commercial environment with senior members of the business.
