Job description

Inbound Planning Assistant
£23,400 plus great benefits (Work Level 6C)
Manchester city centre (hybrid working)

We're looking for an Inbound Planning Assistant to join us as part of a team of 7 colleagues who are responsible for the scheduling of inbound supplier Purchase Orders (POs) across our ambient and frozen depot network. In this role you'll work in a hybrid way - spending at least one day per week working from the office (find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).

As an Inbound Planning Assistant at Co-op you'll work with our supplier base to agree delivery times, while fitting within the delivery schedules and capacity constraints agreed with our depots. It's an important job that will make sure the flow of goods into our network is smooth and timely, so that the products our customers love are ready to be shipped out to our stores.

This is a great opportunity for you to gain exposure across our Supply Chain department and observe the many other functions within Supply Chain which would present opportunities for career progression - something we'd love to work with you on!

What you'll do

  • Respond to phone calls and emails from our suppliers and hauliers and allocate booking slots to balance their requirements with that of the depots and Supply Chain targets
  • Monitor any un-scheduled orders and contact suppliers to make sure that all orders are scheduled and planned for delivery
  • Communicate with internal and external partners to build and maintain strong working relationships to support the resolution of service, delivery, and any other issues
  • Monitor capacities for each depot and work with Supply Chain Demand Planners to understand future demands
  • Work with suppliers/hauliers to re-book deliveries as quickly as possible in the event of failed deliveries
  • Manage relationship with Depot Shift Managers to manage the inbound profile per depot
  • Embrace a continuous improvement mindset and support other colleagues to identify and deliver opportunities for sustainable continuous improvement
