About Us:

Create life-changing opportunities for mentorship of cared for and looked after children.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we put delivering for our communities at the heart of everything we do. We believe passionately that children and young people who are cared for deserve our support to raise their aspirations so they can have the best chance of a successful life. Support from Independent Visitors and Mentors is a great way to do this, as we can match young people with others who can help them develop new skills and knowledge.

The Role:

Working closely with care experienced children and young people, you will secure Independent Visitors and mentors who can make a difference in their lives. Key to this will be developing our Independent Visitors Scheme so that it includes volunteers from a broader demographic. As well as making sure that matching and recruitment meet best practice standards, you will help to supervise volunteers and provide regular training and support. You will work alongside key partners to develop a Peer Mentoring program which aims to train and mentor care experienced young people across both Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster City Councils.

Bringing an enthusiastic, sensitive, and responsive approach to your work with volunteers, and working systematically with families, you will ensure everyone feels valued. Along the way, you will work with other agencies and professionals. You will also have support on tap across our Children’s Services. Here, you can look forward to training, development, and scope to be creative in the solutions we offer. Across a range of locations, you will work with a small cohort of children, giving you the time and space to make a meaningful and lasting difference
