Essential Responsibilities
As the Industrial Plumbing Steamfitter, you will:
- Identify and evaluate the condition of hydraulic, steam and HVAC equipment and determine strategy to repair and rebuild
- Own preventative maintenance, inspections and extensive repairs; diagnose problems, plan and complete work required, identify and order parts
- Installs & repairs pipes, fixtures, and valves, for water, gas, steam, and air systems.
- Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation.
- Assembles fittings and valves for installation.
- Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed.
- Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary.
- Installs heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters.
- Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing systems.
- Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.
- Analyses problem and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair.
- Uses a CMMS documenting the problem and summary of actions taken.
Requirements
Must have at least one of the following:
- AAS degree in Mechanical or Plant Utilities Technology
- AOS degree in HVAC or Construction & Maintenance
- Military Training Course in related field
- 3 years work experience in a Manufacturing Facility (with references)
- 3 years proven experience in Commercial HVAC service and installation.
- Completion of 2 years of a Plumber/Steamfitter Apprentice Program (considered 3rd year apprentice)
- Journeyman Steamfitter
- Licensed NYS Plumber
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability and willingness to work off shifts and weekends
- Ability and willingness to work 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:00 PM)
Desired Characteristics:
- Minimum 3 years work experience in Manufacturing Facility in a technical maintenance role
- Strong mechanical and hydraulic fundamental and safety knowledge (schematics, precision measurement tools, LOTO)
