Information Analyst – Cancer Datasets
£190 per day
Remote with the odd site visit to Cambridgeshire
The focus of this role will be to work collaboratively within a wider Informatics Team to support the provision of statistics and project development across the cancer pathway including: earlier diagnosis, operational performance, inequalities, treatments and outcomes.
Skills and experience required
• Essential:
o Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
o Good analytical skills with an eye for detail
o Experience with using and analysing NHS datasets
o Postgraduate qualification in a data-related subject or working experience in an analytical/BI role
• Desirable:
o Experience using Cancer Waiting Times data and other cancer-related datasets
o Familiarity with cancer terminology and pathways
o Statistical expertise on statistical significance and relationship testing
o Experience with data forecasting
o Experience with SQL and Tableau
Role and associated tasks
• Develop a cancer scorecard with benchmarking, statistical significance tests and trend summary.
• Undertake new analysis, for example, related to cancer staging, routes to diagnosis, preventable cancers, incidence projections and an early warning system for outliers.
• Update existing Excel data dashboards and cancer-related datasets.
• Produce and check PowerPoint slides with insights about the trends and variation within the data.
• Provide support to stakeholders about health and cancer-related statistics.
• Share suggestions to improve the team’s existing products using automation, benchmarking, age-standardisation, significance testing, forecasting etc
