As an Information Compliance Officer, you will play a critical role managing Information Risk, Information Asset Management, Records of Processing Activities and compliance audits across the organisation. The role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Information Compliance Officer to join our dynamic team and contribute to compliance with best practice Records Management and Data Protection requirements. As an Information Compliance Officer you will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of compliance processes across the organisation and where necessary providing relevant training, communications and advice.

Responsibilities

  • Information Asset Management – implementing the Information Asset Management Procedure across the force, liaising with Information Asset Owners and Managers to co-ordinate responses on internal controls, providing support and assistance to them and managing and maintaining the Information Asset Register, reporting monthly and annually to senior managers.

  • Information Risk Management - implementing Information Risk Management across the force, co-ordinating updates and advising on appropriate mitigating actions, working with corporate risk and other workstreams to identify areas of risk which need to be escalated to senior managers; managing and maintain the Information Risk register and advising on probability and impact, identification and treatment of information risk, with input from relevant stakeholders; providing reports to senior managers and linking in with other workstreams; developing communications and awareness in relation to specific and general risks.

  • Records of Processing Activities/Data Mapping – conducting a rolling programme of data mapping to populate a Records of Processing Activities across the force, verifying accounts of processing and implementing a mechanism for changes and additions; identifying areas of non-compliance and advising on these; identifying forums in which changes and approvals are in order to embed this process; managing and maintaining the register in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018.

  • Compliance Audits – to carry out a programme of compliance audits across the force against a set criteria and manage external audit recommendations relating to Data Protection

  • Complex problem solving and analysis

  • Reporting to senior managers

  • Developing communications and awareness about the activities set out above.

  • Communicating with all levels of seniority within the force.
