About the role: We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable Information Governance Officer (IGO) who is ready to join us and to grow as part of a well-established, successful and passionate team. You’ll be a key member of our Information Assurance and Compliance team (IAC) able to serve staff and students at Brookes through managing simple to complex issues. You will ensure that the University complies with Data Protection Law, namely the Data Protection Act (DPA, 2018), the UK-GDPR (2020), The Freedom of Information Act (FOI, 2000), and The Environmental Freedom of Information Regulations (EIR,2004). In this role you will be providing advice and guidance at all levels of the University on matters related to Data Protection and Information Security. In addition, we would welcome candidates with compliance knowledge of ISO standards in information security management and data privacy, payment industry standard (PCI-DSS, 2018) would be of benefit. About you: A team player capable of working through problems and issues. You recognise your own limitations and are not afraid to ask for support when needed. You are tenacious, with seeing tasks through, willing to be curious about things and always wanting the best for yourself and your team members. You will have acquired the ability to understand data protection concepts, legislation and compliance frameworks. In your role you will be able to provide an efficient and effective response to data protection and assurance requests coming into the team.
