Job description

Acting as the first point of contact for infrastructure technical matters within the team, you’re on hand to ensure the UKTL capability operates smoothly and to the needs of our customers. You’ll coordinate with the wider network and infrastructure team, as well as key vendors and 3rd party partners ensuring that capabilities and services are always delivered to a consistently high-level. 

You’ll help prepare and update technical and operational documentation and ensure they are kept up to date on our document management system. Finally, you’ll take responsibility for the implementation and maintenance of the systems and databases – ensuring they are compliant and accurate.

Successful Applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Solihull, Birmingham with the possibility of hybrid working.

About You

To excel in this role, one should possess a robust background in various technical domains. Experience with Microsoft Server operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory, Azure, Entra, Intune, and O365 is crucial. Proficiency in PowerShell scripting is essential for automating tasks efficiently. Familiarity with VMware VCenter, vSphere, Aria, and Linux, particularly Ubuntu Server, is necessary for effective server management. Knowledge of Citrix enhances virtualization capabilities.

An understanding of network operations, encompassing optical and general IP networking, alongside skills in server maintenance, virtualization, containerization, and orchestration, is paramount. Familiarity with industry best practices such as fault management, change management, and configuration management is highly valued. Experience operating in telecoms environments, including a background in Network Operator roles, is advantageous. You'll also need:

  • Effective communication and knowledge-sharing abilities are essential for collaboration and achieving UKTL objectives.
  • A proactive problem-solving approach and the ability to innovate solutions are highly sought-after traits.
  • Moreover, sensitivity to commercial and IPR considerations when engaging with suppliers and operators is crucial for maintaining productive partnerships.
