We are looking to recruit a new Infrastructure Planning Officer to work as part of the council's Sustainable Transport and Highways service. Our work contributes to improving connectivity and resilience in line with the Cumbria Transport Infrastructure Plan, and is a key part of making sure Westmorland & Furness is a great place to live, work and thrive.
Our team’s exciting programme of work includes: developing proposals and securing funding for transport improvements; inputting into spatial strategy and infrastructure requirements to support a new Local Plan; shaping transport policies and projects to support economic growth and the environment; and leading on the Council’s engagement in nationally significant projects.
As an Infrastructure Planning Officer, you will be involved in leading projects to identify and develop infrastructure and strategies. You will work stakeholders, work to secure delivery funding, and manage and work with technical specialists in external consultancies.

We are looking for people with experience and knowledge of town planning or transport planning, and who want to work to improve key infrastructure used every day by residents, visitors and businesses. If you have experience in these areas, or in a related area of work, and a relevant degree-level qualification, we would be delighted to hear from you.
