About us.
We are Hydrogen - the largest specialist social media agency in Scotland. Our award-winning team of 30+ specialists live and
breathe social media: what we don't know about the platforms isn't worth knowing. Hydrogen is part of the PA Media Group, a
diverse portfolio of specialist media companies spanning news & information, data, technology, marketing and communications.
About the role.
We are looking for an Insights Executive to join our Research and Insights team. This is a fantastic role for someone who is
passionate about data and social media. If you have a strong interest in spotting social trends and crunching numbers, this could
be the role for you.
We’re looking for someone who is confident working with spreadsheets, and who has a great eye for detail. You’ll be working
alongside our Senior Insights Manager to build reports for clients to measure performance, as well as playing an active role in
benchmarking, spotting social media trends, and working towards building strategies.
Experience working with insights from social media, Supermetrics and Google Analytics is preferred, but not essential. You’ll also
be working regularly with social listening and insights tools such as Rival IQ and Brandwatch: if you have experience of these
that’s great, but we’re happy to train you on the job.
What you can expect day-to-day.
* Running analysis to understand how our clients are performing on social media: analysing key metrics to see what is working and
showcasing this information in either a dashboard or Powerpoint format
* Reviewing competitor social marketing activity: identifying opportunities and making recommendations based on results
* Researching various industries to assist with client pitches: from a deep dive into an alcohol brand to tapping into Gen Z’s
use of social media
* Using social listening (Brandwatch) to discover what the public are saying around brands, industries and topics, and flagging
relevant conversations
* Spotting new developments and trends within the social space, contributing to wider discussions across the company
* Working with other teams (across Strategy, Client Services, Content and Performance) to share learnings for both organic and
paid social media posts and help suggest improvements for future
Who you are.
Our ideal candidate is confident with numbers and loves to find the ‘ah-ha’ moment when it comes to analysing data to find what
works. Experience with social media insights (such as on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok) is highly desirable, but an eagerness to
learn is acceptable.
You’ll also need:
* Strong ability in spreadsheets (Excel and Google Sheets)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* The ability to explain data in a way that people understand
* Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise
* Enthusiasm and proactivity
* Problem solving abilities
* Ability to comfortably handle and work on different clients at the same time
Highly desirable:
* Experience working with analytics tools (Brandwatch, RivalIQ, Supermetrics, Google Analytics and social media’s own insights
tools)
* Understanding of key terminology such as impressions, engagements, engagement rate and key performance indicators
* Understanding of social media platforms and ‘best practice’
* Any experience in data visualisation tools (such as Looker Studio and Supermetrics) a bonus
What we offer.
* Competitive salary
* 25 days holiday and a holiday purchase scheme
* Enhanced pay for maternity, paternity, and adoption leave
* Wellbeing Day
* Perkbox membership
* BUPA Health Cash Plan
* Life Assurance (4x salary)
* Training & development
* Employee Assistance Programme
* Hybrid working model between our Glasgow office and your home – you choose the mix you want; all we ask is at least 3 days per
week in the office.
