Job description

The role
We are looking for an Insurance, Risk Management and Business Continuity Officer to join our Financial Accounting team. This post is responsible for managing the Council’s insurance portfolio and insurance claims plus dealing with Risk Management administration and queries, leading on the production and maintenance of the corporate Business Continuity plan, and co-ordinating the production of departmental Business Continuity plans. The post holder will also be required to cover day to day treasury management matters in the absence of the Technical Officer and cover other aspects of the team’s work from time to time. The team covers the corporate accounting functions of the Financial Services Department including production of the statements of accounts, treasury management, VAT, Risk Management administration, insurance and monitoring council tax and Business rates as well as working on projects.
If you have a track record in managing insurance policies and claims, Risk Management and Business Continuity, have excellent numeracy and communication skills, are a strong team player, and have experience of delivering high quality customer service then we want to hear from you.
You will be highly motivated and organised with a positive “can do” attitude. You will be able to communicate clearly with staff of all levels and with members of the public. You will have a keen eye for detail and demonstrable experience of managing the insurance provision of a large and complex organisation in conjunction with successfully liaising with and managing the insurance providers. Experience of treasury management would be advantageous.
