Job description

Affinity Water are looking for an experienced Integration Developer to support the progression of the Technology Transformation Programme.  You would be joining the Data and Architecture team to support, maintain and develop core integration solutions.

You will be using Oracle’s SOA suite and working on our critical programme to support rollout of smart meters to our customers, which will empower them to change their water consumption behaviours through the sharing of data and insights.

You will be working with colleagues throughout the business to design practical solutions which deliver excellent outcomes, resolving incidents, improving performance and availability, problem solving complex integration issues and implementing automation for production and development.

The role is in the Data Engineering team who manage and operate all our data integrations and will have the opportunity to use other tools like our ETL tool Talend.

You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of modern cloud-based technologies and practices, continually learning and developing your skills, while championing and evangelising great data operational, management and integration practices.

You will be required to identify and discuss requirements with business users of all disciplines and levels of seniority and manage your workload to deliver the required outcomes.

You will have had experience in previous data integration and engineering administration roles, with an excellent working knowledge of developing in and administering Oracle’s SOA Suite.

As the Integration Developer, you will manage the maintenance, support and development of the integration platform-based Oracle SOA Suite, with the opportunity to develop your skills on our other data tooling.

Key duties include.

  • Ensuring the operational effectiveness of the Oracle SOA suite and associated solutions
  • Design, develop and implement highly scalable integrations which can adapt to changing requirements.
  • Interpret business requirements and user needs
  • Engage proactively with stakeholders and present technical issues in a clear and approachable format.
  • Assist in the integration of DevOps into the business through collaborative working with both development and infrastructure teams.
  • Solve problems through smart technology solutions, identify quick wins, deliver proof of concepts, prove value and deliver quickly to a high quality.
  • Bring in best practice and assist in the implementation of agile working practices.
  • Analyse and troubleshoot live issues when required.

Experience required

  • 4+ years experience administering and developing solutions using Oracle SOA Suite.
  • Oracle Service Bus 12c.
  • JMS.
  • JSON/RESTful APIs.
  • Postman and/or SOAPUI testing ability.
  • Basic Weblogic administration.
  • Good knowledge of SQL using Oracle, SQL Server and Postgres databases
  • Creating Jenkins jobs to deploy code into controlled environments.
  • Proficient with the Linux operating system.
  • Bash scripting, PL/SQL, Java and AWS skills would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Agile ways of working and usage of JIRA
  • Source control, branching and merging strategies using Subversion and Git.
  • Good English communications skills in both written and verbal skills to communicate at all levels with Internals and External Client/Stakeholders of the business.
