An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the FIB Intelligence Analysis Team. Through the production and presentation of analytical products you will help drive decision making at a strategic, tactical, and operational level across the force. (Please be aware that this may include presenting evidence at court).
The Intelligence Analyst's role is a progressive one. The role holders existing skills in research and analysis are further developed through training and accreditation in Intelligence Analysis Techniques and a variety of Information/Software Systems. The role has a career grading from Scale 6 up to the SO1/2, to recognise professional development and analysis skill progression in this dynamic role.

The pay range for Scale 6 is:

  • £30783 - 32772

The pay range for SO 1/2 is:

  • £33915 - 40950

Prior Education and Experience
Essential:

  • Educated to Level 6 e.g. a degree with or without honours OR 3 years experience in the field of intelligence / research / analysis.
  • Experience of communicating effectively and of undertaking analysis of a qualitative and quantitative nature.
  • Experience of utilising Microsoft Word / Excel / PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of National Intelligence Model.

Desirable:

  • Willing to undertake College of Policing Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) Certification (to complete within 12 months of appointment).
  • Willing to undertake College of Policing training programme (Introduction to Intelligence, Introduction to Research and Introduction to Analysis).

Skills

  • Ability to identify and scope a problem to effectively deliver analytical products.
  • Research, assimilation, and analysis of large volumes of complex data & prepare & produce concise analytical reports.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to present information and provide recommendations to various stakeholders to ensure understanding and support decision-making.
  • Skilled in the use of use IT packages, systems and/or databases involved in analysing, interpreting, storing, and presenting data.
  • Able to identify potential opportunities to enhance efficiency and/or effectiveness within own area of work.
  • Good team working skills demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support as required.
  • Able to appropriately prioritise and plan own work.
  • Able to proactively develop effective working relationships with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop own knowledge and awareness of the discipline of intelligence.
  • Ability to maintain the highest levels of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality. Ability to attain and retain necessary level of security clearance and vetting.

After shortlisting of applications has taken place, there will be an assessment process regarding data handling and analysis in Excel. The final selection process will include a practical exercise in identifying and prioritising threat, risk and harm, and a panel interview.
