Job description

We are looking for an inspirational performance lead to line manage, develop and support our team of Children’s Social Care and Early Help Analysts.

The Council recognises the power of our data and we are investing significantly in the Council’s first Data Strategy. Our Data Strategy is key to unlocking the potential of our organisation and delivering our Council Plan.

We want to use data and insight more effectively to help deliver the best possible opportunities for our residents and the Borough as a whole. The Intelligence Lead role is key to the Data Strategy’s successful delivery.

Your next role
This is a leadership role responsible for the effective and successful delivery of all data intelligence and statutory reporting requirements for Children’s Social Care and Early Help Services.

As our Intelligence Lead, you will work closely with service areas to deeply understand their strategies, plans and risks.

You and your team will be responsible for producing the information needed to support strategic and operational decision-making for these services, as well as completion of statutory returns and provision of data and insight for inspection preparation (for example Ofsted inspections of Children’s Services).

You will be an expert in data manipulation and analysis, with a proven track record of delivery of complex, insightful analytics.

You will play a key role in shaping the way in which the Council’s Data Strategy is delivered, transforming the way data and insight is used by the Children Social Care directorate.

You will be an effective and professional coach to Data, Performance and Insight staff, to continue to develop their Analysis and intelligence skills.

You will be comfortable working with the most senior managers in the organisation, providing both support and challenge in relation to service performance and delivery of plans.

We are building a data platform based on Microsoft analytics technology, focusing on the use of Power BI to visualise and consume data. Strong experience in the use of Power BI will be an advantage for this role as would experience in Children’s Social Care and Early Help Services and Children’s case management systems.

Strong experience of using analytics and insight to drive continuous improvement and transformation in services is a given for this role.

The benefits to the Swindon from your role will be substantial; your role will help us understand and support our communities, residents and service users in a much more meaningful way.

The work you do will support delivery of our Data Strategy. It will help us identify opportunities to help those who really need support much earlier and help them live their lives to their fullest potential.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).

Your next package

Please see our Rewards and Benefits offer for more details.

As an employee, you will receive a diverse and exciting environment in which to work, encouraging creativity and innovation whilst recognising the need to support ongoing personal development and a flexible work life balance.

For Swindon to thrive in the future, we need to lay the foundations now. It’s why our regeneration and transformation programmes are already underway. So, you’ll be joining us at an exciting time on our journey. We’ll look to you to share your knowledge, influence decisions and drive real, positive change. With your contributions, we’ll achieve our vision of a prosperous, re-vitalised Swindon together. And you’ll be proud to say it was made better with you.

Please see our Vision and Values page for more details.
