Job description

The Intelligence Support Officer (ISO) is a role within the Risk Intelligence Center (RIC), providing an opportunity for someone new to the world of intelligence to join the RIC as it embarks on an exciting development roadmap.

The ISO is an entry-level role within intelligence, and is responsible for supporting RIC operations and the delivery of intelligence products and services to Securitas and Securitas' customers. The role is suited to someone who is looking to begin a career in intelligence; previous intelligence / investigations / security is advantageous but not essential.

Working within a dynamic and demanding environment, the role requires flexibility and agility, including mobilising on short notice to meet operational requirements. The role is a 4-on 4-off shift pattern, and will require evening and weekend work. Travel may be required to visit customers on occasion.

The current shift pattern is hrs, 4 on-4 off, moving to a 24/7 pattern this year to include day and night shifts. Salary increments will also be reflected when the 24/7 shifts begin.

The role is based in Securitas' Security Operations Centre in Milton Keynes, UK.

  • The role will be responsible for supporting collection, processing, and analysis of data and information to inform the production of intelligence products and services, and support dissemination of these to customers internally and commercially, within the UK and globally.
  • The role will be responsible for supporting the delivery of timely, accurate, relevant, and actionable intelligence products to internal and commercial stakeholders.
  • The role will be required to develop and maintain an understanding of intelligence methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • The role will develop and maintain long-lasting relationships with internal stakeholders and clients.

What you will do

  • Direction of intelligence efforts with support and guidance, based on instruction from managers and seniors, and based on own identification and initiative. This includes receiving and redirecting information as the first point of contact, and maintaining record management systems, to ensure information and requests are dealt with efficiently and effectively.
  • Escalate priority intelligence / requests / requirements to the appropriate person promptly for further action to support operations and live / critical operational activities.
  • Supporting Collection of data and information, including use of intelligence tools, and manual processes including research.
  • Processing of intelligence into databases, forms, logs, systems, templates etc. This includes undertaking system checks and searches as appropriate.
  • Supporting Analysis of data and information, and developing own understanding of recognised intelligence techniques. This includes verifying information to identify links to support colleagues performing analysis.
  • Supporting Production of finished intelligence products including (but not limited to) alerts, analysis (assessments, reports etc.) and investigations. This includes both written products and verbal presentations.
  • Supporting Dissemination of intelligence products to stakeholders, including internally within Securitas, and commercially to customers, both in the UK and overseas.
  • Supporting Evaluation and Feedback of intelligence services, including maintaining the highest level of consistency and quality.
  • Develop own understanding of sources and methods of research to ensure that intelligence products reflect latest methodologies and best practice.
  • Develop own awareness of innovation within intelligence to keep up with the latest techniques and tactics, best practice, and information relevant to the RIC and own self development.
  • Support management and seniors; develop relationships with colleagues and team members to further awareness of roles intelligence operations; seek opportunities to maximise own development and maintain RIC efficiency.
  • Undertake a range of administrative activities, such as arranging meetings and compiling data, to assist the RIC in meeting its objectives.

  • Able to interpret and apply guidance to a specific activity.

  • Able to proactively develop effective working relationships with colleagues, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Continuously learn and be flexible to develop expertise in specific areas, using new systems, and willingness to learn and work with a range of IT applications, including some specialised intelligence and incident management tools.
  • Developing report-drafting skills, with consistent attention to detail as reports will be written for readers in the highest levels within corporate organisations.
  • Proficient in office software applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel etc.)
  • Be responsive and flexible to changing requirements and priorities and be able to adapt to unpredictable circumstances.
  • Motivated, self-starter able to work autonomously with guidance and support.
