Job Description:
We are looking for an Interim CFO / Head of Finance to provide Maternity cover who can deliver a first-class financial support service. You will be supervising the Senior Finance Managers in preparing, developing and analyzing financial information to enable the company to make well-informed decisions to underpin its growth.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with excellent financial and bookkeeping skills, have experience in supporting series B/C fundraising processes and must be available for appointment from mid-March 2024.
Responsibilities:
Month & Quarter-end Processes
- Review (and support in preparation where needed) month-end and quarter-end accounting journals prepared by the Senior Finance Manager
- Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies and foreign operations
Financial Reporting and Forecasting
- Review (and support in preparation where needed) budget forecasts maintained by Senior finance Manager
- Work with the Chief Commercial Officer and his leadership team to review and prepare reports on sales pipeline and revenue forecasts for the month/quarter/year.
- Support on budget-related decisions by assessing business case and escalate where needed
- Review and support in preparation of end of year accounts and audit process, solve queries from auditors where needed
- Support on R&D claim process
- Review and support in preparation of filing of accounts for 2 entities (UK and US)
Investors Claims and External Reporting
- Review and support in preparation of monthly and quarterly investors reports
- Review and support in preparation of board materials
- Resolve investors queries
- Update, maintain and ensure accuracy of Captable (Capdesk, internal Captable, members register)
Payroll
- Review monthly payroll (benefits, deductions, leavers / joiners)
Options management
- Support on grant and exercise of options (managed through Capdesk) including tax requirements linked to options
Special Projects/General Support
- Assist the CEO with special projects as needed
- Work with the management team and the CEO in other aspects typically expected from a Head of Finance / CFO role.
You will be our ideal candidate if:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with significant post qualification experience
- Evidence of having successfully operated at a senior management level in a fast moving environment
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Commitment to excellence, with passion and personal commitment to the highest standards of service delivery
- The analytical skills necessary to interpret and present complex information in an understandable form and change constructively traditional ways of undertaking tasks
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize work to meet deadline
- Preferred: Experience in supporting Series B/C fundraising process
