- Day Rate: £500 per day (Umbrella/Inside IR35)
Wakefield Council is seeking an experienced Head of Fire Safety to lead the transformation of our approach to Fire Safety Management. This pivotal role requires a competent individual who will ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and provide assurance to Senior Officers on all matters relating to Fire Safety.
Day to Day of the role:- Report directly to the Service Director for Property, Facilities, and Health and Safety, working closely with the corporate health and safety team, property compliance team, and external contractors
- Act as the Council’s ‘competent person’ on all matters relating to Fire Safety, ensuring that that the Council complies with Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) legislation.
- Provide assurance to Senior Officers they are discharging their responsibilities in line with all applicable legislation, providing expert advice across the council.
- Develop and maintain a Fire Safety Management System in line with BS:9997.
- Investigate fires and prepare reports in conjunction with local authorities.
- Oversee the training schedules of ‘fire wardens’ and assess their training needs.
- Active membership with the Institution of Fire Engineers or Institute of Fire Safety Managers.
- Qualification in fire prevention or Fire Safety, such as NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management and NEBOSH General Certificate or an equivalent level 4 RQF accredited fire risk assessment.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing Fire Safety policies and training.
- Strong understanding of Fire Safety legislation and ability to ensure compliance.
