Job description

My client has an excellent new contract role for a Head of Planning and Performance, this role is for 6 months initially and inside IR35  and looking to pay £650 per day. The role will be Hybrid with ideally 1-2 days a week in the Bedford office. 


This role will lead the definition, design, development, and governance of the Planning and Performance function; helping the CEO and wider leadership team ensure there is a joined-up plan.

This will include focussing on the benefits to the customer, looking at how best to measure and report on impacts and outcomes, anticipate market trends, and achieve the delivery of the organisational strategies.

This role will report to the Planning, Performance and Governance Director, key responsibilities will include:


Planning
• Work with the Executive and Senior leadership team to help define the pipeline of work to deliver against the organisation full year business plan.
• Lead on the business planning process across the business and ensure the processes, products and key information for decision making, are of the highest order.
• Taking the annual committed deliverables, shaping a quarterly delivery portfolio with detailed resourcing and business commitments to deliver the full year plan. Monitoring and ensuring this plan is delivered.


Performance
• Lead on embedding strategic performance indicators across the organisation, providing visibility to enable performance to be managed.
• Establish and lead mechanisms to support continuous improvement and achievement towards strategic goals.
• Ensure the production of and visibility high quality, regular reports to the CEO and Board
• Lead on the development of insight and information for the Quarterly Accountability Reviews


Leadership
• Lead and develop the Planning & Performance team.
• Have confidence and credibility to intervene and/or provide constructive challenge and act as a trouble-shooter to resolve delivery issues.
• Influence and support the internal organisation and communicate changes that have business wide impacts on customers and stakeholders.

Requirements for the role


This role requires practical and up to date experience in Operational and Portfolio Management environments. 
• A proven track record of working closely with senior stakeholders; with the ability to demonstrate sound and sensitive judgement gained through experience working with or within a central government environment or the wider public sector.
• Proven effectiveness and credibility to operate at a senior level across an organisation, giving authoritative advice and driving improvements through internal stakeholders.
• Experience of supporting an organisation in improving performance
• Excellent prioritisation skills and the ability to organise a workload effectively while managing several different tasks.
• Degree level education and/or qualified in Portfolio / Operational Management or equivalent experience.
• Excellent analytical thinking, technical analysis, and data analysis skills with experience in managing a reporting function.
• Strong relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to understand business issues and processes and to articulate the business context of projects.
