We have a fantastic opportunity for an IT Operations Specialist to join our team on a fixed term basis for 12 months. This is an exciting time to join us as we have started our transition from Serco Group plc to the Scottish Government; and whilst Serco IT continue to deliver IT Services encompassed in the Transitional Services Agreement, the need has arisen for a dedicated IT Operations Specialist. We require someone who enjoys being hands-on, with working knowledge of technical products – such as software applications, mobile apps, computer hardware and infrastructure and experience, in being both dedicated key contact for Caledonian Sleeper in relation to IT needs, as well as providing a user support service point of contact, to provide IT service delivery and technical assistance to Serco IT.
Main Accountabilities:
As Caledonian Sleeper IT Ops Specialist, you will work independently of Serco with some specific CSL IT Activities, where regular travel to our CSL sites will be required.You will be required to support our wider team with company iPads and mobile WIFI consisting of :
- End to end lifecycle from purchasing devices to devices returned
- App & security provisions to enable distribution to staff
- Issue troubleshooting and resolution
- Stock management
- Mobile Wifi
- Initial troubleshooting if issues experienced
- Point of contact for supplier technical support
- Furthermore, you will work in partnership with Serco IT ensuring onsite CSL IT Support
What you’ll need:
Qualifications:
- Professional qualification in IT or computer science
- Skills and Knowledge
- Self-starter and driven to solve problems and IT issues, primarily device-related
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to keep up with technical innovation and industry trends.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to assimilate information quickly, ability to provide technical support, including the ability to demonstrate “root-cause” analysis of issues.
- In-depth knowledge of hardware and software, including set up and installation.
- Attention to detail.
- Software troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Phone, email, and office 365 technical and user support
Experience
- Previous experience in IT operations/support specialist
- Experience to challenge and interpret IT policies and procedures and their implementation by teams
