Company Overview: My client is a dynamic and highly acquisitive organisation embarking on an exciting phase of growth. Rapid expansion through bolt-on acquisitions has created opportunities for improvement within the finance function. We are now seeking a skilled Finance Process and Controls Improvement Manager to play a key role in transforming and optimising the finance operations.

Role Overview: As the Interim Finance Process and Controls Improvement Manager, you will be instrumental in bringing order and efficiency to the finance function. Working closely with the European Finance Director, you will lead initiatives to document, streamline, and enhance financial processes. This role is critical as this organisation aims to establish a central Shared Service Centre (SSC) arrangement over time.

Responsibilities:

  1. Process Documentation and Improvement:

    • Collaborate with the European Finance Director to document existing financial processes.
    • Drive initiatives to improve process efficiency and controls.
    • Implement best practices to streamline month-end, AP, and sales ledger procedures.
  2. Controls Enhancement and Automation:

    • Work alongside the European Finance Director to strengthen internal controls.
    • Identify opportunities for automation to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
  3. IFRS16 Schedule Organisation:

    • Take ownership of organising the IFRS16 schedule, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  4. Deadline Calendar Creation:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive deadline calendar for month-end and other critical financial activities.
  5. Team Collaboration and Morale:

    • Address team concerns and improve overall team morale.
    • Foster a positive work environment through effective leadership and collaboration.
  6. Systems Integration:

    • Navigate multiple financial systems, ensuring seamless integration and data accuracy.
  7. Strategic Growth Support:

    • Contribute to the company's ambitious growth plans by ensuring finance processes can scale effectively.
    • Provide strategic insights to support the planned business expansion.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional contractor with a strong background in finance and audit.
  • Proven experience in driving Process Improvements, ideally within a rapidly growing and acquisitive environment.
  • Familiarity with multiple financial systems.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and automation best practices.
  • An understanding of "what good looks like."

Location and Working Arrangements:

  • The role can be based in either Bristol or London, with a preference for Bristol.
  • 1-2 days per week required on-site.
  • Outside IR35.
  • 6 months duration.
