Internal Hazards Engineer

The Role
As the Internal Hazards Engineer you will play a key role in supporting the development of our clients Power Station and the successful completion of licensing activities including the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) process

Responsibilities
Develop and maintain the Internal Hazard delivery programme as part of the overall programme.
Develop Internal Hazards submissions for the development of the E3S case and plan and manage submissions for GDA.
Support engineering disciplines in their decision-making process enabling them to use Internal Hazards as an input to choose between different design options that are under consideration.
Ensure the appropriate level of quality and governance is applied to Internal Hazards submissions.
Represent the project at appropriate internal technical and project reviews and at external meetings with the regulator and other stakeholders.
Modelling and analysing the impact of Internal Hazards
Skills/Qualifications
An understanding of the staged development of internal hazard cases in support of a developing design to meet UK regulatory expectations.
In-depth knowledge of the types of Internal Hazards that could impact the safe operation of a complex facility, such as an operating Nuclear Power Plant, and in the derivation of withstand requirements.
Experience of the UK civil nuclear regulatory regime and in particular the UK regulator s GDA process.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to represent the project both internally and externally.
A demonstrable ability to work in multidisciplinary teams with staff from all levels to tight deadlines.
Qualified to degree level or equivalent in Engineering, Maths, Physics or equivalent or significant relevant industry experience
