How you'll make a difference
You will make a difference as Business Support Team Leader by providing a support service to the People Department, which provides a wide range of public-facing services including statutory safeguarding (children and adults) and education responsibilities and duties.

What will you be doing?
- You will be leading and supervising a team of administrative staff in the provision of a comprehensive and effective administrative and resource support service for the People Department teams based in Badminton Road.
- This will include monitoring staffing, health and safety, finance, information and records, customer services, data input and management. You will act as the key liaison point between staff in the team, and managers and teams across the rest of the department.
- You will work with the Business Support Supervisor to ensure that the Business Support Team are operating in the most efficient way possible, negotiating work tasks and deadlines with managers across the department and resolving queries and problems as and when they arise.
- You will be assessing new work requests in conjunction with the supervisor and reviewing the parameters within which the team will operate on an on-going basis.
- You shall ensure that staff within the team are developed and supported, including absence monitoring, appraisals, training and recruitment and ensuring that team members receive on-going training, support and development.
- In this role, you will coordinate committee support activities for the department and provide a central point for committee issues across People.
- Daily, you will liaise with senior managers, members, and officers along with partners and other outside bodies to ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to, and reports are taken correctly through lead member meetings to subsequently be submitted to the relevant People’s committees.
- You may be required to travel to other locations in South Gloucestershire.
What we need from you
- It is essential that you hold NVQ level 4, or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge, in business administration/administration services.
- You should have the ability to prioritise the teams workloads to meet demands and experience of working in a team across different areas of activity
- You will need sound knowledge of IT Systems e.g. Microsoft Office packages, in particular word and excel and the ability to use appropriate specialist in-house software packages for which training will be given
