Job description

How you'll make a difference

Working within the Strategic Enabling Housing Team, you will make a difference by delivering much needed affordable housing and specialist housing projects across South Gloucestershire.

You will work with partner organisations, such as Housing Associations, to achieve aims and objectives from the Housing Strategy, and maximise funding opportunities for housing projects.

This role is a limited term contract until November 2024. This can be offered as a secondment / acting up opportunity.
 
This post is restricted to permanentand temporary employees of South Gloucestershire Council only  

What will you be doing?

  • Working with the Planning Department, Developers and Housing Associations, you will negotiate on planning applications to deliver affordable housing in accordance with our planning policy.
  • You will work closely with Housing Associations to deliver additional affordable housing opportunities.
  • To help determine how affordable housing is delivered, you will draft and agree the legal documentation required.
  • Regularly, you will investigate and research new housing legislation and initiatives to help improve our service, feeding back to other colleagues where necessary.
  • Working with the People Department, the Regeneration Team, and Property Services, you will project manage and support specialist housing initiatives for members of the community.
  • You will also assist with housing delivery options such as joint ventures partnerships or procurement frameworks.
  • Using your initiative, you will help develop a pipeline of projects to be prepared for funding bids.
  • It will be your responsibility to collate information for funding bids, and draft bids to strict timescales.

What we need from you

  • It is essential that you hold a degree or equivalent specialist qualification and/or equivalent experience within a specialist field such as Planning, Housing or Land/ Property Management.
  • We require you to have good working knowledge of the relevant Housing and Planning legislation, housing association development finance and regulatory framework for the provision of the service.
  • You must have substantial experience of successfully negotiating and managing complex projects to timescales demonstrating excellent customer service.
  • You will be able to demonstrate the ability to analyse and problem solve complex projects, influence customers, and make appropriate decisions in a timely manner.
  • It is essential for you to have excellent negotiation skills.
  • It is preferred, but not essential, that you have experience of staff management and/or supervision.
