JOB TITLE : Inventory Driver Operator

LOCATION : Mount Park, Eastleigh

WORKING HOURS : 7am – 7pm, Blue Shift,

SHIFT PATTERN: 4 on, 4 off

What will you be doing:

As an Inventory Driver Operator, you will be expected to carry out a range of varied tasks and functions, drive company vehicles as and when required to collect and/or deliver goods/stock to ensure customer requirements, performance targets and quality standards are met and when possible, exceeded.

In additional to the above driving responsibilities, other duties will involve receipt, put away and replenishment of Silver Stock lenses and Raw Material as requested by the Team Leader.

Essential responsibilities:

Health and Safety:

  • Comply with Health & Safety at Work Act and promote good EHS and GMP practice within the department to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and visitors to the area. Particularly, ensure safe use of specialist equipment such as Order Pickers, fork lift trucks, pallet movers, racking, and other electrical equipment.
  • Comply with all PPE policies and requirements for the area.
  • Where requested, carry out daily checks against established EHS and GMP checklists covering equipment (e.g. Order Pickers, FLTs, Company Vehicles) and the general working environment.

Driver Function:

  • Drive company lorries on and between all CooperVision UK Manufacturing sites to make all necessary deliveries and collections to maintain the business requirements and materials flow. Drivers to be in possession of a valid Tacho card and up to date with all driver qualifications. This includes operating all necessary materials handling equipment such as Fork-lift Trucks. Driver competence for Vehicles and FLTs must be maintained at the highest level.
  • Follow all laws and regulations of driving to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Keeps company vehicle clean and ensure it is well-maintained, has fuel, oil and is ready to drive.
  • Communicates with other sites to update them of time of deliveries if there have been issues or changes to their estimated time of arrival.
  • Maintains communication with Team Leader, Senior Operator to be informed of any change of delivery, route or schedule or any obstructions to making safe, efficient deliveries on time.
  • Once fully trained, operate any machinery, vehicles or equipment as required for your position and duties.
  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles, by hand or with a forklift truck.

Operations:

  • Upon Team Leader request to be prepared to work in other areas of operations for specified periods of time as required.
  • Pick and issue Materials for the other business units.
  • Receive incoming lenses and Raw Materials from internal and external sources.
  • Putting away products, carry out replenishments, move and rearrange stock.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the warehouse, keep areas of work clean and tidy to ensure operational efficiency.

Work Environment:

  • The work carried out is physically demanding and a significant proportion of the shift you will be required to drive company vehicles, walk, lift and operate mechanical handling equipment.
  • This position will involve working in a combination of indoor and outdoor environment. Outdoor working includes yards, drop off and collection points within the warehouse areas. Warehouse is a large open-plan warehouse; temperatures in the warehouse fluctuate due to seasonal variations.
  • Regular requirement to lift materials and /or boxes of lenses, up to 3kg-25kg
  • Periods of prolonged driving, standing, or sitting.
  • Working at height may be involved for this position.

What are we looking for?

  • Driving License must include C1 (3.5 to 7.5 ton Vehicle) Good working knowledge of Warehouse procedures and environment, computer inventory systems and Microsoft office (or competence to achieve this).
  • Mechanical Handling Equipment Licenses: Order Pickers, VNA’s, forklift trucks, and pallet stacker (or competence to achieve this) and use RF devices.
  • Provide support to your Team Leader or Senior Operator through feedback on Inventory issues on a regular basis.
  • Ensure the departmental KPI’s targets are met and where possible exceeded in compliance with the organization’s requirements, including production targets, quality standards and customer requirements
  • Quality conscious

In addition, you’ll have experience in:

  • Participate in any continuous improvement initiatives within the work area.
  • Receive new training and train others as determined by the departmental training matrix. Training must be in accordance with relevant SOPs and associated documents. Share product knowledge within the department.
  • Good working knowledge of the warehouse
  • Basic understanding of the equipment relevant to the specified area including in house applications, e.g. JDA WMS, BAAN and ServiceNow
  • Able to use Microsoft Office to produce documents and read/send emails
  • Good standard of education including English and Math’s.
