Job description

Successful candidates will have a unique experience working on or supporting the latest ground-breaking cyber security and networking technologies on a national and international scale. This opportunity will allow those involved to have first-hand exposure to the latest technologies via the research and development that we are undertaking to secure our telecommunications networks, in order to keep the UK the safest place to live and do business online.  

  

As the UKTL Issues Manager you will play a vital role in managing security related issues arising across the breadth of UKTL testing. You will have responsibility for triaging these issues, for communicating these results to relevant parties and for seeking to resolve them working with equipment vendors and others. You will use your knowledge, experience and networks to steer the work of UKTL to ensure it remains relevant and representative.

 

Successful Applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Solihull, Birmingham with the possibility of hybrid working.

Required skills and experience 

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Telecommunications (Security) Act 2021) and requirements that places on operators.
    Track-record in identifying and communicating security related issues – ideally in a telecoms network environment.
    Technical leadership in telecoms security or equivalent cyber security.
    Strong working knowledge of network protocols and how software works as well as familiarity with security vulnerabilities and techniques attackers can use to bypass common security protections.
    Forming and maintaining working relations with telecoms infrastructure equipment Vendors and UK Communications Service Providers.
  • Understanding of hardware and software development lifecycles.
    Applied knowledge of cryptographic algorithms / standards and knowledge of data structures and distributed systems.
