KLM UK Engineering Limited is a leading UK-based Maintenance Repair Organisation (MRO) offering a high-quality service and products from its head office location at Norwich Airport. With 6 fully equipped modern heavy maintenance bays across 3 hangars and over 40 years of experience on many aircraft types, including Embraer 170/190, Boeing 737 All Series, Airbus A320 Family, BAe 146 & Avro RJ, KLM UK Engineering has a solid customer base. The Role

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for an Application Lead to join our IT & Innovation team. This role is based at our head office at Norwich Airport and is Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

The main purpose of this role is to manage the Company’s applications and software to ensure that the company is getting the best value from these and users are effective in using them. The timing of the creation of this role coincides with the start of a project to replace the company’s central platform.

Key Responsibilities

· Providing application configuration and maintenance on core business systems.

· Maintaining application monitoring, performance tuning and testing.

· Ensuring there are robust procedures and processes within the application support function remit.

· Monitoring progress of requests for support and ensures users and other interested parties are kept informed.

· Providing 3rd-line Application Support on complex internally and externally developed applications.

· Delivering support to existing business users and investigating and resolving application errors, data discrepancies and queries.

· Interacting with internal teams and external 3rd party vendors to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems.

· Liaising with systems development staff or software suppliers on the development of system enhancements to overcome known problems or further fulfil user requirements.

· Maintain good working relationships with internal departments as well as 3rd party vendors and hosting providers.

· Designing appropriate metrics for reporting on key performance and quality indicators, particularly in terms of in-depth trend analysis.

· Providing input to administering and maintaining all production and internal environments.

· Providing input to the implementation, backup, and roll-back plans.

· Acting as a technical resource for internal and external projects.

· Examining potential areas for Service Improvement and raising proposals with the IT Manager.

· Contributing to the planning of application/infrastructure releases and configuration changes.

· Following appropriate departmental and company procedures and policies (i.e. change control, security and auditing, release, configuration, problem, and incident management).

· Providing input to application/infrastructure scalability.

Selection Criteria

· Degree educated and/or industry-recognised qualification with proven experience in a similar role.

· Knowledge of ITIL procedures & Project Lifecycle

· Knowledge of the software platforms on which applications run and understanding of the business environment in which they operate.

· Experience of systems development with effective and defined processes

· Experience of problem-solving in a similarly scaled environment

· Effective methods and techniques for writing reports

· Techniques which help in modelling and understanding a business and its operation.
