IT Development Lead - Hybrid, Glasgow

Up to £64,000 + company benefits

Head Resourcing is looking for an experienced IT Development Lead to join a Glasgow based Financial Services Client. This is a hybrid role with working from the office in Glasgow twice per week, please ensure when applying you can commute to Glasgow twice per week. Any applicants not within a reasonable commutable distance to Glasgow will not be considered for this role.

Reporting to the Head of IT Development, the IT Development Lead will be responsible for managing the BAU Change function within the IT Development team. The BAU Change function is responsible for larger change activity that has been prioritised by the business and is progressed through development sprints.

The IT Development Lead will work closely with the SCRUM Master to ensure that resource is appropriately aligned to the business needs of each function and that each development sprint is completed successfully. The role will also be required to work across business functions and with the Head of IT Development, to understand development priorities and ensure work is scheduled appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of the BAU workstack in accordance with business priorities.
  • Work with business stakeholders to plan BAU workstack.
  • Work with SCRUM Master and the development resource to plan and deliver Development sprints.
  • Review release notes and unit testing.
  • Sign off BAU Implementations into production ensuring strict release processes are adhered to.
  • Ensure a high level of production support, working with the company Infrastructure team, to ensure production incidents are managed and resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure privileged access is adhered to at all times.
  • Work with Testing and Analysis functions to ensure releases are tested and fit for implementation.
  • Work with SCRUM Master to deliver MI on development sprints to senior management.
  • Be a source of technical knowledge and be able to understand and review SQL code.
  • Be able to offer technical input into complex solutions.
  • Mentor and line manage a subset of the development team, helping with objective setting and delivery.
  • Conduct 121s with reporting line.
  • Follow the development lifecycle and release process for production implementations and fixes.
  • Testing, deploying, and maintaining SQL projects and fixes in line with best practices.
  • Work with colleagues across the business as well as being able to communicate technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders.

Skills/Experience

  • Advanced T-SQL and PL-SQL knowledge.
  • Advanced skills in SSIS with XML, XSL.
  • Understanding of Java and APIs desirable.
  • A logical thinker with initiative and ability to problem solve.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels within the organisation.
  • Good knowledge of Life/Pensions products desirable.
  • Experience in wealth management and life administration, and savings and investments.
