IT Infrastructure Engineer


Our client is a trailblazing global AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) company. They a on the lookout for an exceptional IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT Team and report to the Head of IT. Their cutting-edge technology gives a voice to those with limited speech, positively impacting the lives of people with disabilities worldwide. As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a leading role in ensuring the reliability and security of their IT systems and infrastructure for the UK business and across the wider group of companies. Your expertise in IT concepts, server administration, networking, security, virtualisation, scripting, and disaster recovery will be key to their continued success. This is a hybrid role based in the Malvern office, with the requirement to come into the office a minimum of twice a week, up to four depending on ongoing project needs. The salary for this position will be determined based on the applicant's education, skills and experience.

How will you be making a difference?

  • Design, implement, and manage the computer network.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, Unix).
  • Manage user accounts and permissions.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and data.
  • Conduct security audits and risk assessments.
  • Designing, implementing and managing improvements to systems and processes.
  • Providing hands-on technical support and guidance – ensuring responsive and customer-centric service delivery.
  • Create and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and configurations.
  • Plan and execute IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Recommend and implement new technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide training to end-users on new systems and technologies.


Essential Qualifications/skills/experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in IT Infrastructure Engineering or a related role.
  • Expert-level knowledge and experience of IT concepts, server administration, networking, security, virtualisation, scripting, and disaster recovery – including technologies, standards, processes and best practices.
  • Proven track record in delivering secure, reliable, resilient infrastructure.
  • Experience with on-prem and cloud (Azure or AWS).
  • Proven track record of planning and leading projects, including gathering requirements, engaging with stakeholders, and effectively communicating change.
  • An inquisitive mind and a good problem solver. Able to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Great collaboration skills, with the ability to work well in a small, dynamic team.
  • A hands-on, down-to-earth approach, coupled with a passion for providing great customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex IT concepts in simple terms.
  • Willingness to provide out-of-hours support from time to time, when urgent needs arise.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft technologies - especially Windows, Azure AD, Office365, Defender.

Useful Qualifications/skills/experience

  • Broad knowledge and experience with a variety of systems.
  • Experience with Linux server administration.
  • Experience with Hyper V/VMware.
  • Experience with Telephone/PBX systems.
  • Experience with MDMs, and Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
  • Programming and/or SQL experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONS

In this role, you will have the flexibility to work between your home and their office locations in Malvern and Bristol.
You will meet and keep in regular contact with other teams in the business.
The nature of this role will require you to travel to other office locations like Bristol, when and as required.
