IT Operations Engineer - Automation, Cloud & Support - Central Cambridge Location - On-site 5 Days PW

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 Plus Benefits Package

This hugely exciting & fast-growing Technology company has its offices in central Cambridge, within walking distance of the train station. With their IT Infrastructure & User base continuing to grow, the business is now seeking an IT Operations Engineer to join their infrastructure team, focused on delivering IT Automation, Cloud & Infrastructure management and IT Support across Linux, MacOS and Windows technologies.

NB: With the role focused on automating IT systems, providing Cloud & Infrastructure and User support, this superb role does require the IT Operations Engineer to be onsite at company’s Cambridge office full-time.

The Role:

With the remit to automate wherever possible, the IT Operations Engineer will be joining a small and highly skilled infrastructure team which is actively migrating current legacy systems to orchestrated systems, building & managing GCP Cloud and self-hosted servers, desktops and laptops to ensure smooth and secure operations.

Responsibilities Include:

• Automating and systemising infrastructure management using Terraform, Puppet and scripting (Python, Bash and Powershell)
• Designing, developing and maintaining complex infrastructure for teams of Software Engineers, Developers and researchers
• Providing IT support to Users at the deskside and remotely
• Ensuring new & existing Hardware & Software required, is available, fully functional and secure across workstations, laptops, servers, networking, teleconferencing, etc
• Working with the Platform Operations team to ensure monitoring and alerting is in place and functional across critical systems
• Protecting all infrastructure and data from cyber threats
• Managing authentication, authorisation and accounting
• Defining new IT processes and policies as & when required

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Good experience with Linux systems both server and desktop - additional skills across MacOS & Windows environments preferred
• Experience of managing mobile technology via MDM software - ie: Jamf, Intune or similar
• Solid skills & experience with Cloud services - AWS, GCP or Azure and associated tools
• Experience administrating networks - knowledge of Juniper switching/routing and Fortinet firewalls is a bonus
• The ability to automate processes using tools including Terraform, Ansible & Puppet
• Good Python scripting skills - additional ability to use Bash & Powershell is highly beneficial
• Solid skills & understanding of Cyber Security and the ongoing focus required to keep systems & data secure
