Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Manager to join our Research and Development (R&D) IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the development and commercialization of innovative digital products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams such as but not limited to scientists, regulators, product owners, senior stakeholders, and vendors to ensure successful product launches and ongoing product improvements. Product Management Capability – Product Safety

  • At Elanco, this capability is defined as the collection, detection, assessment, monitoring, and prevention of adverse effects with Elanco products.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Owning the product vision, strategy, and roadmap: focus on defining product vision, product strategy, capturing requirements and creation of a product roadmap aligned with a measurable business case (ROI). Including the ability to represent technology solutions to business stakeholders.
  • Business planning and budget management: as the manager of the product, you will manage the product portfolio including financials for the product ensuring we make the most value of our investments.
  • Prioritization: understanding and applying prioritization techniques, and bridge knowledge gaps demonstrating a broad understanding of the business.
  • Risk management: being aware of risks, ability to identify risks early in the process, and ability to clearly articulate impact versus probability of risk.
  • Product optimization: continuous refinement and improvement of the product whilst continuously measuring value and focusing on adoption.
  • Gathering user insights: user insights (internal & external) are key to ensure the product(s) being developed is focused on our users during all stages of a product lifecycle.
  • Customer Journey Mapping: focus on the ‘what’ vs the ‘how’ to map out the customer’s journey from beginning to end.
  • Market Research and Assessment: ability to understand market trends, competitor landscape, and influencing external partners. This includes determining the need for creating new product(s), scaling existing product(s) or enhancing existing product(s).

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, MBA) or equivalent work experience supporting pharmacovigilance activities
  • Proven experience as an IT Product Manager, preferably in an R&D or technology-driven environment or pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong understanding of software development processes, agile methodologies, and IT project management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate R&D needs into IT product requirements.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders.
  • A user-centric mindset, with a focus on understanding and meeting user needs.
  • Knowledge of security and regulatory requirements relevant to the industry.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
