What skills you’ll need
- Proficiency in Windows and Mac desktop operating systems on various hardware formats (PC, laptop, terminal etc).
- Mobile telephony, tablets, handheld devices, and MDM.
- Microsoft products including Office 365, Active Directory and Windows Server.
- Creation and maintenance of high-quality IT knowledge bases and process documentation.
- ITSM tools (Jira or similar) and related processes.
- A highly capable leader, with extensive experience managing high performing support teams.
- Well organised and flexible – able to switch between solving complex technical problems one minute, to BAU support, team management, strategic planning, or running projects of various sizes the next.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including clarity when talking and writing about technical topics for different audiences.
As IT Support Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining effective and efficient first line IT support building a high-performing team, but also pioneer strategic initiatives to keep them at the cutting edge. Leading a team of 5 helpdesk and support technicians you will be effectively line managing, establishing quality standards, performance metrics and SLA’s. You will be coaching, mentoring and training, acting as an advocate for the department and reporting status updates to leadership and stakeholders. Other duties will include managing staff rotas, out-of-hours cover, creating a culture of excellence and service improvement throughout. Finally as a key member of the Tech team, you will be operating at a strategic level to help shape the future of the support function, evaluating and keeping abreast of industry changes.
