About the Role

We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as an IT Systems Administrator Apprentice. In this role, you will work closely with our experienced IT professionals to gain hands-on experience in maintaining and supporting our system. The system you will be working on is ALIS (Autonomic Logistics Information System), a crucial component of the F-35, the first tactical aircraft system to have sustainment tools designed in concert with the air vehicle to optimize operations.
You will be working to achieve the Information Communications Technician Level 3 apprenticeship. This comprehensive apprenticeship program will be delivered by a training provider within a 10-mile radius of RAF Marham. As part of this program, you will receive structured training and mentorship to further enhance your skills and knowledge in IT systems administration.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assisting with backups, restores, and disaster recovery of the system
  • Hardware/system monitoring and performance tuning
  • Aiding in System/software/user maintenance and maintaining system documentation
  • Setting up administrator and service accounts
  • Installing system wide software
  • Maintaining smooth, secure operation of multi-user computer systems
  • Monitor inbound and outbound data flow and correcting any service issues that cause system halts

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, there is an opportunity for deployment overseas, either onboard one of the UK Aircraft carriers or as part of a land deployment.
Please note that the successful candidates will undergo UK security clearance and must have the ability to pass a medical examination.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • Please ensure your CV / Cover Letter highlights the below as our Apprentice roles do attract significant interest
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs, including English and Mathematics, achieved a Level 2 qualification or its equivalent.

  • A desire to pursue a career in IT System Administration.

  • Organised, able to plan and prioritise tasks.

  • Good communication skills.


Deployment Readiness:

  • Availability for deployment overseas upon completion of the apprenticeship.

  • Successful candidates will undergo UK security clearance.

  • Must be able to pass a CONDO medical examination.

  • Deployment may include service onboard one of the UK Aircraft carriers or as part of a land deployment for up to 2 months at a time.
