We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Test Manager to work within our Operating Systems Team to ensure the quality of our IT deliveries.

As a Test Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving the testing strategy, overseeing test planning and execution, and managing a team of testers both internal and external.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to assisting in developing test plans and implement best practices to deliver high-quality software solutions for our Operating Systems Team.

About the role

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive test plans, strategies, and methodologies to ensure the quality of software products.
  • Lead and manage a team of testers, providing guidance, coaching, and support to drive performance and achieve testing goals.
  • Collaborate with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders to define testing requirements, scope, and timelines.
  • Coordinate and prioritise testing activities, allocate resources effectively, and manage test schedules to meet project deadlines.
  • Conduct risk assessments, identify potential issues, and develop mitigation strategies to minimise project risks.
  • Define and maintain testing standards, processes, and documentation to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects.
  • Monitor and report on test results, quality metrics, and project status to stakeholders, highlighting any deviations or issues.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve testing processes, tools, and techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software testing and quality assurance.

We offer our Support Office team members a flexible, hybrid working approach based upon empowerment, accountability, care and trust which includes a balanced mix of remote and office-based working - this will be discussed with you as part of the application process.

What you’ll need to have

  • Proven experience in software testing and quality assurance, with a focus on test planning, execution, and management.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor team members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of testing methodologies, tools, and best practices, including Agile, Scrum and Waterfall.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks, tools, and scripting languages (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, Python).
  • Proficiency in test management tools (e.g. ALM, Jira, TestRail) and version control systems (e.g. Git).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Certification in software testing (e.g. ISTQB).

Hybrid Working – 3 days in office, 2 days from home

We currently operate a fixed hybrid working approach for Support Office team members with a mix of remote and office-based working. Our set office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with team members able to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
