Job Description
Base salary: £47,450pa to c.£59,300pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer a flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top of base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

The IT Vendor Planning Lead is responsible for defining and implementing HS2's IT vendor strategy and sourcing strategies to drive performance across the supply chain and meet IT and business objectives. The role also manages the entire supplier portfolio, ensuring optimal service arrangements and an appropriate ecosystem of suppliers that deliver value to HS2 IT.
About the role:
  • Develop and implement HS2's IT vendor strategy to drive performance across the supply chain and meet IT and business objectives.
  • Develop IT sourcing strategies and make recommendations that form an input to HS2's overall sourcing strategy
  • Conduct ongoing horizon scanning activities to drive sourcing recommendations and support sourcing decisions
  • Lead ongoing vendor engagement and planning with a view to simplify, lower the cost, and deliver better value for the IT portfolio.
  • Manage the entire existing IT supplier portfolio, ensuring recommendations are made in due time to relevant forums for renewal, cessation, extension, or new demand.
  • Own and manage pipeline of new vendor demand in collaboration with IT stakeholders, making recommendations for action where appropriate.
  • Lead segmentation of suppliers and develop appropriate measures to manage strategic and business critical suppliers accordingly
  • Facilitate IT SLT discussions and advise on alternative sourcing models to simplify, lower the cost, and deliver better value to HS2 through third-party supplier relationships.
  • Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

About You:
Skills:
  • Strategic thinking. Ability to work within a strategic context and distil activities that will enable the achievement of strategic goals
  • Continual service improvement. Ability to analyse current processes, identify and implement opportunities to optimise processes, and lead and develop a team of experts to deliver service improvements.
  • Sourcing: Ability to determine strategies for procuring IT services, managing supplier relationships, embracing effective operational relationships at all levels.
  • Stakeholder Management. Ability to build and manage effective working relationships, as well as influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Portfolio Management. Ability to manage a portfolio of IT vendors and contracts in order to deliver better value to the business
  • Policy Advice. Ability to define policies, that guide effective delivery of sourcing and vendor management strategies

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of policy, legislative, regulatory, and operational constraints, adapting technology where needed.
  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement frameworks, issues, risks, governance, compliance, and assurance.
  • Knowledge of SLAs and vendor contracts
  • Understanding of the business product environment, and its impact on supplier contract management

Type of Experience:
  • Experience of commercial, partner, vendor, or supplier management where governance, quality and compliance criteria has been met, within a fast-paced major infrastructure programme with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in defining IT vendor management and sourcing strategies using flexible and novel commercial models for major IT programmes
  • Experience of collaboration and co-innovation with global IT vendors to drive service improvements
  • Experience in managing a portfolio of vendors and vendor contracts with a view to optimizing value to the business
