We’re looking for a passionate Japan Specialist to help us take our digital international trade platform, Santander Navigator, to new global heights.

As a Japan Specialist, you’ll be at the core of delivering value to our users.

Using your established network, you’ll have the know-how to offer our users the best solutions for their international challenges from managing supply chains to exporting to new markets. You’ll provide essential business connections to help them grow in Japan and ensure they have access to the most engaging content, events and solutions on the platform.

The difference you will make:

The Japan Specialist role is crucial to the success of Santander Navigator. So, as well as day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll have a vital part to play in:

  • Working with Sector Heads to develop the Japan proposition and ecosystem to support end-to-end trade journeys for Santander Navigator users
  • Ensuring all Japan content and events on the platform are providing users with unique insights and solutions
  • Leading our engagement with local banking partners in Japan and work together to align the commercial aims of Santander Navigator with their own
  • Attracting more users to Santander Navigator by offering a compelling proposition for Japan
  • Enabling successes for our users to help them grow and expand in Japan
  • Supporting banking relationship teams to allow them to deepen their relationship with existing Santander customers through engagement with the Japan proposition

What you’ll bring:

  • As a Japan native, or fluent speaker in Japanese, you’ll have a core understanding of Japan including market entry strategies, cultural considerations and the key opportunities and challenges for businesses
  • An existing network of in-market experts, such as local market entry companies, who can support you in building your Japan proposition

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • A self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to lead engaging events for our users
  • An outgoing personality with great personable skills - we want to see your passion for Japan shine through!
  • An understanding of Commercial Banking products and how these can be used to promote international trade

This role is based in London and our current expectation is at least 2 days in an office every week. You will also be expected to travel internationally at least once a quarter.

As well as a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy a benefits package that you can tailor to your needs.

  • Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus
  • We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer
  • 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year
