An ambitious SME sized manufacturing organisation based near to Tamworth. They have an employee-focused culture and are committed to development. Due to continued business growth, they are now looking to recruit a Junior Buyer to join the team.
This is an exciting opportunity which offers a three-year development plan, training and CIPS study support to progress to Buyer level.
The role is office based, but the organisation offers a four-day working week (Monday to Thursday). It is a full-time role with hours compressed into four days.
Your new role
Initial responsibilities will include handling a number of suppliers, Kanban management, placing and expediting purchase orders, updating systems with supplier-acknowledged delivery dates, running MRP reports, participation in our daily shortages meeting, contributing towards the development of departmental systems and processes, and the costing and organising of imports.
Due to developments in the department, this role will evolve to incorporate aligning deliveries to short-term production schedules with suppliers, issuing requests for quotation, supporting project work on cost reduction activities, having ongoing negotiations with a range of suppliers, and the development of relationships with suppliers that supply critical components but with small spend levels.
A key element of your development will involve taking ownership of a number of projects, designed to increase their exposure across the company and to deliver tangible results for the company, as agreed.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a Purchasing Assistant, Junior Buyer, or Administrator with buying experience, who is keen to develop to the Buyer level. Ideally, you will have a background from a manufacturing, engineering, or automotive environment, however, this is not essential. You will have experience of using MRP systems to order materials, liaising with suppliers, expediting purchase orders and producing management information reports.
What you'll get in return
You will receive a starting salary of £25,000 plus bonus. Salary rising to £30,000 (in three increments). The role is a four-day working week (Monday to Thursday 7am to 5pm). It is a full-time role with hours compressed into four days. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for progression with development, coaching and study support to Buyer level within a defined development plan.
