Junior Buyer

We are proud to be recruiting a Junior Buyer for our client who is a leading distributor of packaging solutions in the UK. They are looking to continue their growth with extra support in their team and this offers an excellent opportunity for someone near the beginning of their Procurement career, to develop further!

Based near Kettering, the role would be looking for a Junior Procurement individual with some experience in Procurement and dealing with suppliers, or an account manager with strong experience within Packaging, ideally Corrugates and Corrugated packaging.

You would be responsible for liaising with suppliers, analysis of data and administrative support to the procurement team. As part of your experience, you would be strong with IT systems, primarily Microsoft Office and Excel.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Category Manager to agree buying strategy
• In conjunction with the Category Manger, prepare and send out enquiries, ensuring quotes are returned in the required template and timelines stipulated
• From receipt of enquiries, prepare a commercial summary with supplier recommendations for the category managers
• Make tactical decisions related to supplier selection, pricing negotiations. And focus on operational elements of supplier relationships
• Conduct professional presentations giving the category view and compelling offer for our products, expertise and service
• Assist with and help resolve any pricing or invoice queries, supply chain and internal sales problems that might arise on a day-to-day basis
• Ensure that the Group's Supplier Ethics and Trading policies and practices are monitored specifically ensuring supplier compliance with the code of conduct and supplier charter

Ideal Candidate:

• 1-2 Years within Procurement or internal account management from Packaging background
• Packaging experience/knowledge, especially Corrugates, is desired
• Strong IT Skills
• Strong oral and written communication
• Commercial acumen and good knowledge of Procurement principles
• Evidence of working with key stakeholders and suppliers
