At Deloitte Digital our engineers are passionate about solving unique challenges, working at a scale that very few others do. In a variety of specialisms, our Junior Developer’s gain experience with leading edge technologies, methods, and tools. We work across a wide range of industries offering you the opportunity to gain a breadth of domain experience and depth of technical knowledge.

We help our clients release the potential in emergent technology to imagine, deliver and run entirely new business futures. You will be joining a vibrant community of frontend, backend, platform, mobile engineers, and architects who care deeply about their craft. Beyond this we will support you in the development of your career by providing guidance and learning opportunities to help you grow as a Junior Developer.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

This programme is for university students who are doing well academically and want to test their skills in the real world.

We do have some minimum requirements for you to meet. And of course, you’ll need more than good grades to make the most of your placement. If you’re fascinated by business and can’t wait to get stuck into complex projects that make a difference, you’ll fit right in.

You need to be on track to achieve a predicted degree classification of 2:1 or above in any discipline and you must be in the penultimate year of your course. Your degree course must support a placement year in industry.

Duration of programme: 12 months

No prior coding/configuration experience is required, however a broad interest in technology/digital tools and how they work is advised.

What kind of work will I do?

Our Junior Developers join us as with a passion for coding and aspire to a career in software engineering. Whether you’ve coded as part of a course, on personal projects, or just for fun, if you’re actively seeking to improve your skills, this is where you want to be. You will work with other engineers, UX designers, business analysts, cyber security experts, technical leads, and our clients to create experiences that surprise and delight the customer.

With us, you will get to work on major programmes in diverse teams to help transform the way our clients do business.

  • You will deliver tangible, positive changes for public, private, and financial service organisations.
  • You will learn agile methods, such as Scrum and Kanban to technologies including Java, HTML, CSS, React, Angular, Vue, Python, JavaScript, Kubernetes and Terraform to cloud providers, like AWS, GCP and Azure.

  • You will attend our amazing Analyst Induction Programme (AIP) alongside Graduate and BrightStart new joiners to learn about our company, culture and how we work - this is bespoke to our Consulting business.
  • You’ll get an opportunity to practice the key skills you’ll need on client projects. AIP is 5 days long and includes engaging talks, group activities and immersive simulation challenges.
  • You’ll receive training in backend and frontend technologies and get practical experience through our developer boot camp.
  • You’ll meet many team members from your business area, including your People Leader and Resource Manager, and make a few friends along the way.
  • Following AIP you move into more specific business area training for a few more weeks - all exciting and very relevant to your future client/project engagements.
  • You will have the opportunity to network with colleagues at all levels of seniority and have access to lunch and learns, mentors and more!
  • Ahead of joining the firm in September, will be invited to an Industrial Placement specific meet and greet in the office to start your integration to the firm.

Upon being offered a role, you will be assigned a buddy who has previously completed an IP year and who will be your informal point of contact for any queries, and to offer insight and guidance ahead of joining.

  • You will be assigned a dedicated coach who will provide you with regular coaching and guidance as you progress in your career at Deloitte.
  • Through the Industrial Placement students will be put through our training bootcamp to give you a basic understanding of fundamentals and core technologies for development, you will join alongside our graduates and attend full the Analyst Induction Programme.
